Optiluiz here once more to announce the untimely death of my laptop's screen. I'm writing this post with some degree of difficulty, from a computer that would have been considered top-notch back when tamagotchis were still a thing. Nevertheless, I couldn't let something this trivial get in the way of our usual programming, haha!
Taking into account the unpredictable nature of the backup computer that I'm using, I'll try to keep things as short as possible. For now, I hope you guys enjoyed our latest comic, which marks the end of this season's first page! I'll bid you farewell with this week's traditional special tune.
Chainsaw cheers,
-Optiluiz out.
PS: Now, I'm off to marathon the new season of Samurai Jack, as I finally finished watching the show's amazing original run!
Optiluiz here once more with a brand new comic, fresh out of the oven! How have you guys been? This has been yet another hectic week for myself, but I'm quite proud that we're still on schedule with the blog. In any case, here's this week's news.
The Pathfinder session finally worked out! We had a blast playing through a classic fantasy adventure with more than a fair share of humor. I still have a few quirks to work out as a Dungeon-Master, but with some more practice I think I'll be a natural in no time. There's nothing quite like playing god and seeing people react to your stories in real time.
In other news, I'll probably be producing the world's shortest slasher movie in a few weeks, and I'm looking forward to sharing that with you guys if everything works out. I'm tired of having projects fizzle out because of conflicting schedules and lack of commitment. It's usually my own fault, though.
I can't think of a clever segway so I'll just go ahead and admit that I just impulse-bought The Elder Scrolls Online for PS4, and I'm excited to visit my Tamriel home once again. Older readers might remember my obsession infatuation with Skyrim, so don't be surprised if I sink deeper into this fantasy-rpg vibe in a short while.
For now, I'll just continue living in my dark little cyberpunk bubble for another week (especially now that I have a decent TV in my room). I hope you guys enjoyed today's comic, and I promise that the subject matter will be less suicidal improve in the near future. Now, I'll leave you with a music-video/song that a peculiar friend of mine showed me a long time ago in a galaxy not far enough away.
Chainsaw cheers,
- Optiluiz out.
PS: Why do I feel the need to justify this season's focus on suicidal comics? I'm pretty sure that no one actually reads these things, and even if they did I wouldn't change the content to match other people's tastes. Why the hell does this matter?
PPS: I'm not even a real Gorillaz fan, but I guess sometimes we have to venture outside our comfort zone.
PPPS: I know I ask this all the time, but does anyone out there have any suggestions for the blog? I'd like to know if you guys like the way things are going.
It is I, Optiluiz, and I have returned for another round of comic shenanigans and excessive rambling! Aw geez, Rick, what a week! These past few days have been long and hard (that's what she said), but I'm grateful for the opportunity to finally sit down and shitpost, especially in this chilly weather. And on that note, let's talk about what's been going on in my life.
College is finally interesting again, and I've got a couple of projects lined up that I think you guys might like. My social life is as fucked up as ever but I'm making an effort to not turn into a cyber-hermit, so I guess that's alright. To be honest, what's keeping me alive at the moment is the expectation of spending three days by myself in an empty apartment binge-watching everything on my hard-drive. Also a possible tabletop RPG which was canceled as I began typing this, fuck.
Last week I mentioned a super-secret project that my girlfriend was working on, and though it's not quite finished yet (there are still some texturing issues to be resolved), here is the big reveal!
That's right ladies and gentlemen, Optiluiz has finally invaded the three-dimensional world! We're all doomed! It took a lot of work, but it all seems worth it when you look at that cute little face. If there's enough interest, we might even end up selling these!
In an unrelated note, have you ever found yourself watching Dank Meme compilations on Youtube at three in the morning? If so, you probably understand what I'm going through with life right now. I try to keep negative thoughts at bay by overdosing on media, but it feels like there just aren't enough pepes memes out there to save me.
In any case, I think I'll keep today's post mercifully short, as I'm really not in the mood to be writing. That being said, I hope you guys remember that today's comic is really just a joke stemming from my own way of dealing with suicidal thoughts, so don't get your panties in a bunch. If Optiluiz is going to die, it's going to be in some spectacularily idiotic fashion.
For now, have a great weekend, everyone! Lets keep the Cyberpunk thing going with this week's featured song. Might as well embrace the future.
Chainsaw cheers,
- Optiluiz out.
PS: I'll be making an effort to be more positive in the future. This has nothing to do with you guys, but I feel that if I write this here I might actually do it.
PPS: Writing a Pathfinder campaign is so fucking tiresome. It's still worth it, though. I just hope we actually get to play this time...
It's been a while since I've practiced my drawing skills, so I hope things don't feel too different, but this is the best I can do under these circumstances. I guess I have some catching up to do, don't I? Well, let's get to it then. I'm still only halfway through college, but things are finally moving forward this year, and I'm excited to see what my academic and professional future holds. My horror articles and reviews at Bloody Disgusting are getting serious, and I'm writing in my free time again. My personal life has also improved quite a bit recently, after a prolonged period of absolute fuckery. Oh, I'm also on my way to getting my long-delayed driver's license!
Even so, my social skills remain as shitty as ever, and I guess I should get this announcement over with. I haven't spoken to Max in quite some time, and we'll be moving forward without his involvement from now on. He wasn't very active during the last season of comics, but due to some creative differences we've sort of parted ways, so he won't be appearing in any future comics.
That being said, I think this season's script is top notch, and I'll do my best to entertain you guys. I realized long ago how important this blog is for my mental health, and while I'll try to keep my semi-weekly ramblings to a minimum, I can't make any promises. It seems that life sometimes makes an effort to convince us that everything around us sucks, so it's good to stop sometimes and remind yourself of the things that matter. I think there's some merit in attempting to tidy up your house while the world around you is falling apart.
I'm not entirely sure what that metaphor is supposed to mean, but it felt important, so I'm keeping it. That's all I have for now, but I'll certainly be back soon with more silly comics. For my own sake. For now, I'll leave you with a song that's been creeping up on me a lot recently. Thank you for still being here.
Chainsaw cheers,
Optiluiz out.
PS: We've had some kick-ass movies so far this year, I'm glad I've been saving up! Hell, even Ghost in the Shell was pretty good. Would have been amazing with a better script, though.
PPS: Sorry to say that the Epic Club Show has been canceled, but that teaser trailer still makes me smile. I'll have more video projects for you guys soon, though.
PPPS: My girlfriend has been working on a super-secret ECB-related project as well. You'll be seeing it next week if everything works out as planned.
PPPPS: Since I mentioned Ghost in the Shell above, I might as well rant about my recent habit of zoning out and falling asleep while listening to cyberpunk-inspired music and thinking about the crushing loneliness inherent to human existence. It's not the most cheerful hobby in the world, but it does help to deal with life's more unsavory moments. It dawned on me during one of these sessions that we are undeniably living in an actual cyberpunk dystopia, it's just a lot more subtle than the fiction led us to believe. I'm not sure if this is a good or bad thing. I'm not sure if that matters.
PPPPPS: Happy Easter everyone!
PPPPPPS: Words are very... unnecessary... they can only do harm.
