Veteran of a Thousand Meme Wars - Part XI

Greetings, readers!

Optiluiz here once more with yet another edition of Veteran of a Thousand Meme Wars! I hope you enjoy today's half-assed comic, as it's the last one before Hallow- I mean, October... Which also means that it's my last post as a 22-year-old loser. From now on, I'll be a 23-year-old loser. Yay!

Anyways, how've you guys been? Since we last met, I've done some cool stuff and made some unlikely plans as well. Hell, I went to an Alice Cooper concert for free, and found myself exclusively reviewing The Asylum movies for the forseeable future. Go, amateur journalist me!

I've also finished replaying God of War 3 with Mario, which means that I've replayed every single God of War game in 2017! Sadly, I'm not all that excited for the new one, but who knows, right? In other news, I've also been watching some WKYK, which I'd recommend to anyone who has the same shitty sense of humor that I do.

Not much else to say today, as I've gotta take a long nap and dream about having a robust social life, where gathering a group of friends to play Monopoly isn't an insurmountable struggle. Ta-ta for now, but I'll leave you folks with a classic cooper song in celebration of my good fortune.

Chainsaw cheers,

-Optiluiz out...

PS: I really had to resist the urge to re-post He's Back, but I've been told that I need to expand my musical horizons.

PPS: Ugh, I've been having a hard time dealing with what lies beyond the wall of sleep.

Veteran of a Thousand Meme Wars - Part X

Greetings, Epic Clubbers!

How've you been? Optiluiz here once more with yet another exciting chapter in the Veteran of a Thousand Meme Wars saga! I'd apologize for the comic being a little late, but come on, can you really be late if there was never any expectation for you to be on time? Think about that for a minute.

Anyway, these past few weeks have been pretty crazy. I had my first official journalistic gig, revamped some old projects and even met a few celebrities. I've also seen some kick-ass movies, like the new It and a remastered version of Akira in theaters.

I actually had today's comic prepared for a while now, I just couldn't find the time to post it in between college and consuming dank meme compilations. Either way, despite how hectic things get, life has been alright. I'm still struggling to find players for my Call of Cthulhu campaign, but I think that will be resolved eventually.

Not much else to say for now, but I hope you've enjoyed today's special brand of self-deprecating humor. I'll leave you guys with a song that's been a big part of my late nights recently. Have a great weekend.

Chainsaw cheers,

- Optiluiz out.

PS: You guys should seriously watch It, though the box office numbers suggest that you already have. The book is awesome as well.

PPS: I think I've given up on the Elder Scrolls Online. This is the longest I've tolerated an online game, though.

PPPS: Really feel like hosting a Halloween party this year... Oh well...

Veteran of a Thousand Meme Wars - Part IX

Greetings, Epic Clubbers!

Optiluiz here once more with yet another late comic! How've y'all been? I've been rather busy with driver's ed ( a little late in the game, I know) and life general, but I guess it's time for some more crudely drawn doodles, eh? Not like we have anything better to do, right?

Well, I can actually drive now, just not legally, as the final exam is only next month. I'm free from college until the 14th, and that's pretty cool. I'm also preparing for a Wet Hot American Summer marathon with the peeps (sorry) tomorrow. I've been reading some more Clive Barker as well, so I guess you could say that I'm enjoying my break from 'real' life.

All in all, life is pretty swell, and things are finally winding down after a busy and eventful year. That constant existential droning is still there, but hell, what else is new? I don't have much else to say today, but I'll leave you guys with a kickass tune that reminds of french slashers and my teenage years.

Chainsaw cheers, and have a nice weekend, folks.

-Optiluiz out...

PS: Baby Driver was pretty good.

PPS: I miss Haute Tension. Gotta rewatch that one.

Veteran of a Thousand Meme Wars - Part VIII

Greetings, Epic Clubbers!

Optiluiz here once more to- aw hell, you know the drill. The fact is, I once again performed one of my world-famous disappearing tricks, and somehow wound up in late July without updating the blog. Sorry, I guess.

Well, I hope ya'll enjoy today's comic, which marks the long-awaited end of the second page of Veteran of a Thousand Meme Wars. However, it's certainly not the last one, as this story will be larger than last year's.

These past few months have actually been pretty fun, despite some more of those horrific setbacks that life puts in our way just to fuck with us. Either way, college has been alright, I managed to travel to Maringá once again, and I saw a shitload of fun movies. What else do you need, right?

In all honesty, I missed posting here, but there's been so much shit to keep up with that I somehow let the Epic Club Blog fade into the background of my life. Hopefully  that'll change, but at this point my unexplained disappearances have become part of my blog persona.

I guess that's all for now, but I hope ya'll have a great week. If all goes well, I'll post more in a few days, to try and make up for lost time. Then again, you can't really fight the current when it comes to the fourth dimension, now, can you? I'll leave yet another cyberpunkish song below, just because I can.

Chainsaw cheers,

-Optiluiz out!

PS: Since my last post, I binged American Gods and loved it more than the book, watched some great movies and finished Uncharted 4.

PPS: I also found this weird interactive single-player RPG novel that's honestly pretty fun, if a bit pathetic.

PPPS: I might update you guys on my personal projects soon, but to be honest I'm embarassed by some of it, and it might be best to shroud myself in mystery. For the blog's sake.

Veteran of a Thousand Meme Wars - Part VII

Greetings, Epic Clubbers!

Optiluiz here once more with yet another exciting update for the Epic Club Blog! How've ya'll been? I've had a really busy week, but I'm happy to announce that it's a public holiday tomorrow and I'm looking forward to a long weekend!

I don't have much to say today, now that I think of it. Not because I haven't done anything interesting these past few days, but because I don't really feel like writing about it. I guess I just want to zone out and play some Elder Scrolls Online for a while.

Well, I did buy a new UFO book about Area 51. My computer is also back, which is awesome. It feels great to be a part of the internet again. I'm also trying to get into shortwave radio, due to Reviewbrah's VORW Broadcast, which I'm a big fan of.

And... that's all for now. Hope you guys liked today's comic, as things are about to get interesting. Thanks for visiting, I'll leave you guys with 5 hours of futuristic ambient music. Don't judge me.

Chainsaw cheers,

-Optiluiz out...

PS: I guess it's worth mentioning that I acted in a humorous action scene earlier this week. You'll see it eventually...

Veteran of a Thousand Meme Wars - Part VI

Greetings, Epic Clubbers!

Optiluiz here once more with a fresh post, straight out of the oven! I was going to do this later but since Elder Scrolls Online is updating, why not post right now, right? Hope everyone had a good week, as I most certainly didn't. At least today is Friday, and it looks like things are taking a turn for the best.

Editing is almost done on my latest college project, though I'm not sure how it's going to turn out. At the very least it will be an interesting watch, though it's kind of sad to not see your vision fully realized on the "big" screen. Other than that, I've mostly spent my time watching Supernatural and subsequently complaining about it.

I watched the new Mummy movie last night, and it reminded me of a worrying trend in Hollywood of making decent movies and then fucking up the ending. More than a few people have commented that my opinion on most recent movies is always "it was alright, but the ending was shit". I honestly hope that these big studios get their shit together.

That's all I'm willing to write for today, as the update is nearly finished, and I need to kill some fantastical creatures in order to wind down after this troubling week. In any case, hope you guys enjoyed the comic, and I'll be back with more soon. I'll leave you with a song that has some history with myself, Max and the ECB.

Chainsaw cheers,

- Optiluiz out...

PS: Wonder Woman was pretty good, though again, the ending kind of sucked.

PPS: My computer finally came back. And then it broke again. Yay, me?

PPPS: I know I said the comics would cheer up a bit, but I guess that was a lie.

Veteran of a Thousand Meme Wars - Part V

Greetings, dear readers!

Optiluiz here once more to announce that the ECB is still alive and ticking, despite some prolonged technical and personal difficulties How have you guys been? I promise to keep today's post short in light of our limited resources, but I hope you enjoy the comic!

I've been living as a reclusive hermit these past few weeks, since the death of my laptop, but I'm glad to say that by early next week my computer will return, good as new! While being away from the internet is rather strange, I'd be lying if I said that the experience wasn't rather refreshing. Well, to be honest, I wasn't totally away from the internet...

You see, I've been using this time to level up in Elder Scrolls Online and finish watching Samurai Jack. Both these activities have been keeping sane, and I entirely recommend that you do the same if life gets in the way of... life.

That's all for now folks, as I have to prepare some extra posts! I'll try to catch up on our posting schedule, since this season is likely to be a lot longer than the last one. For now, take care, and I'll leave you with this catchy meme-worthy tune.

Chainsaw cheers,

-Optiluiz out...

PS: Anyone else saw the japanese cut of Johnny Mnemnic? Holy shit that movie was trippy.

PPS: The ending of Samurai Jack could have been better, but the show as a whole is definitely in my top 10 best TV series of all time.

PPPS: Existential dread is in this season...

Veteran of a Thousand Meme Wars - Part IV

Greetings, dear readers!

Optiluiz here once more to announce the untimely death of my laptop's screen. I'm writing this post with some degree of difficulty, from a computer that would have been considered top-notch back when tamagotchis were still a thing. Nevertheless, I couldn't let something this trivial get in the way of our usual programming, haha!

Taking into account the unpredictable nature of the backup computer that I'm using, I'll try to keep things as short as possible. For now, I hope you guys enjoyed our latest comic, which marks the end of this season's first page! I'll bid you farewell with this week's traditional special tune.

Chainsaw cheers,

-Optiluiz out.

PS: Now, I'm off to marathon the new season of Samurai Jack, as I finally finished watching the show's amazing original run!

PPS: I still miss my waifu PC, though...

Veteran of a Thousand Meme Wars - Part III

Greetings, Epic Clubbers!

Optiluiz here once more with a brand new comic, fresh out of the oven! How have you guys been? This has been yet another hectic week for myself, but I'm quite proud that we're still on schedule with the blog. In any case, here's this week's news.

The Pathfinder session finally worked out! We had a blast playing through a classic fantasy adventure with more than a fair share of humor. I still have a few quirks to work out as a Dungeon-Master, but with some more practice I think I'll be a natural in no time. There's nothing quite like playing god and seeing people react to your stories in real time.

In other news, I'll probably be producing the world's shortest slasher movie in a few weeks, and I'm looking forward to sharing that with you guys if everything works out. I'm tired of having projects fizzle out because of conflicting schedules and lack of commitment. It's usually my own fault, though.

I can't think of a clever segway so I'll just go ahead and admit that I just impulse-bought The Elder Scrolls Online for PS4, and I'm excited to visit my Tamriel home once again. Older readers might remember my obsession infatuation with Skyrim, so don't be surprised if I sink deeper into this fantasy-rpg vibe in a short while.

For now, I'll just continue living in my dark little cyberpunk bubble for another week (especially now that I have a decent TV in my room). I hope you guys enjoyed today's comic, and I promise that the subject matter will be less suicidal improve in the near future. Now, I'll leave you with a music-video/song that a peculiar friend of mine showed me a long time ago in a galaxy not far enough away.

Chainsaw cheers,

- Optiluiz out.

PS: Why do I feel the need to justify this season's focus on suicidal comics? I'm pretty sure that no one actually reads these things, and even if they did I wouldn't change the content to match other people's tastes. Why the hell does this matter?

PPS: I'm not even a real Gorillaz fan, but I guess sometimes we have to venture outside our comfort zone.

PPPS: I know I ask this all the time, but does anyone out there have any suggestions for the blog? I'd like to know if you guys like the way things are going.

Veteran of a Thousand Meme Wars - Part II

Greetings, dear readers!

It is I, Optiluiz, and I have returned for another round of comic shenanigans and excessive rambling! Aw geez, Rick, what a week! These past few days have been long and hard (that's what she said), but I'm grateful for the opportunity to finally sit down and shitpost, especially in this chilly weather. And on that note, let's talk about what's been going on in my life.

College is finally interesting again, and I've got a couple of projects lined up that I think you guys might like. My social life is as fucked up as ever but I'm making an effort to not turn into a cyber-hermit, so I guess that's alright. To be honest, what's keeping me alive at the moment is the expectation of spending three days by myself in an empty apartment binge-watching everything on my hard-drive. Also a possible tabletop RPG which was canceled as I began typing this, fuck.

Last week I mentioned a super-secret project that my girlfriend was working on, and though it's not quite finished yet (there are still some texturing issues to be resolved), here is the big reveal!

That's right ladies and gentlemen, Optiluiz has finally invaded the three-dimensional world! We're all doomed! It took a lot of work, but it all seems worth it when you look at that cute little face. If there's enough interest, we might even end up selling these!

In an unrelated note, have you ever found yourself watching Dank Meme compilations on Youtube at three in the morning? If so, you probably understand what I'm going through with life right now. I try to keep negative thoughts at bay by overdosing on media, but it feels like there just aren't enough pepes memes out there to save me.

In any case, I think I'll keep today's post mercifully short, as I'm really not in the mood to be writing. That being said, I hope you guys remember that today's comic is really just a joke stemming from my own way of dealing with suicidal thoughts, so don't get your panties in a bunch. If Optiluiz is going to die, it's going to be in some spectacularily idiotic fashion.

For now, have a great weekend, everyone! Lets keep the Cyberpunk thing going with this week's featured song. Might as well embrace the future.

Chainsaw cheers,

- Optiluiz out.

PS: I'll be making an effort to be more positive in the future. This has nothing to do with you guys, but I feel that if I write this here I might actually do it.

PPS: Writing a Pathfinder campaign is so fucking tiresome. It's still worth it, though. I just hope we actually get to play this time...

Veteran of a Thousand Meme Wars - Part I

Greetings, dear readers!

Holy shit on a crucifix, I've missed this. Has it really been so long since the last season of ECB comics ended? So much has changed since then. I know this is a cliché by now due to our frequent hiatuses, but this time I really mean it. God, it feels like we're in a whole new world. I'm not sure if that's a good thing, but I hope you guys enjoy today's introduction to Veteran of a Thousand Meme Wars!

It's been a while since I've practiced my drawing skills, so I hope things don't feel too different, but this is the best I can do under these circumstances. I guess I have some catching up to do, don't I? Well, let's get to it then. I'm still only halfway through college, but things are finally moving forward this year, and I'm excited to see what my academic and professional future holds. My horror articles and reviews at Bloody Disgusting are getting serious, and I'm writing in my free time again. My personal life has also improved quite a bit recently, after a prolonged period of absolute fuckery. Oh, I'm also on my way to getting my long-delayed driver's license!

Even so, my social skills remain as shitty as ever, and I guess I should get this announcement over with. I haven't spoken to Max in quite some time, and we'll be moving forward without his involvement from now on. He wasn't very active during the last season of comics, but due to some creative differences we've sort of parted ways, so he won't be appearing in any future comics.

That being said, I think this season's script is top notch, and I'll do my best to entertain you guys. I realized long ago how important this blog is for my mental health, and while I'll try to keep my semi-weekly ramblings to a minimum, I can't make any promises. It seems that life sometimes makes an effort to convince us that everything around us sucks, so it's good to stop sometimes and remind yourself of the things that matter. I think there's some merit in attempting to tidy up your house while the world around you is falling apart.

I'm not entirely sure what that metaphor is supposed to mean, but it felt important, so I'm keeping it. That's all I have for now, but I'll certainly be back soon with more silly comics. For my own sake. For now, I'll leave you with a song that's been creeping up on me a lot recently. Thank you for still being here.

Chainsaw cheers,

Optiluiz out.

PS: We've had some kick-ass movies so far this year, I'm glad I've been saving up! Hell, even Ghost in the Shell was pretty good. Would have been amazing with a better script, though.

PPS: Sorry to say that the Epic Club Show has been canceled, but that teaser trailer still makes me smile. I'll have more video projects for you guys soon, though.

PPPS: My girlfriend has been working on a super-secret ECB-related project as well. You'll be seeing it next week if everything works out as planned.

PPPPS: Since I mentioned Ghost in the Shell above, I might as well rant about my recent habit of zoning out and falling asleep while listening to cyberpunk-inspired music and thinking about the crushing loneliness inherent to human existence. It's not the most cheerful hobby in the world, but it does help to deal with life's more unsavory moments. It dawned on me during one of these sessions that we are undeniably living in an actual cyberpunk dystopia, it's just a lot more subtle than the fiction led us to believe. I'm not sure if this is a good or bad thing. I'm not sure if that matters.

PPPPPS: Happy Easter everyone!

PPPPPPS: Words are very... unnecessary... they can only do harm.
